They Ride for Those Who Died

On May 12th, 2011 over a 1400 current and retired law enforcement officers -, state, local, and federal - rode through the streets of Washington, DC to Judiciary Square; home of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. They are the members of the Police Unity Tour (PUT). They ride every year in honor of the law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Started in 1997, the PUT’s mission is to raise funds and awareness for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Since the inaugural ride the amount of money raised by this organization and the amount donated to the NLEOMF has increased every year. This year the PUT presented the NLEOMF with a check for $1.5 million.
