Outpatient Services: Cardiology Clinic And Noninvasive Cardiology
The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital offers outpatient cardiology service at its main campus, Close To HomeSM locations and at 11 regional and specialized clinics throughout the Ohio region, extending into Kentucky. Each location is staffed with a renowned Heart Center physician, registered nurse, cardiology technician, pediatric cardiac sonographer, medical students, residents in training and pediatric cardiology fellows in training which allows us to extend world-class services to patients regardless of where they receive care.<br /> <br /> Clinical evaluation, electrocardiography, echocardiography, Holter and trans-telephonic event monitoring are available at our outreach locations. Adolescent and Adult Congenital outpatient outreach clinical services are provided in Dayton, Ohio.<br /> <br /> <B>expertise</B><br /> <br /> Cardiology sub-specialty services are available at our main campus location and include:<br /> <br /> :: Cardio-Genetics Clinic:</B> In conjunction with section of Molecular and Human Genetics, cardiology evaluation, treatment and follow-up services have been available and continue to be available to patients with genetic disorders since 2004.<br /> <br /> <B>:: Cardiac Neuromuscular Clinic:</B> In conjunction with Nationwide Children’s Neuromuscular Disorders Program, cardiology evaluation, treatment and followup services are available to patients with neuromuscular disorders. The coordinated clinics allow the patients to come from long distances and receive their neuromuscular and cardiac care in one day. Much of the follow-up contact with the families is handled over the phone or by mail. The Muscular Dystrophy Association has designated us as the primary DMD Clinical Research Center for Cardiac Disease.<br /> <br /> <B>:: Electrophysiology/Pacemaker Services:</B> Electrophysiology consultation, Ablation evaluation, consultation and follow-up services and pacemaker clinical services.<br /> <br /> <B>:: Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation:</B> The Heart Center Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation team provides consultation and follow-up services for patients with cardiomyopathies, heart failure and status post cardiac transplantation.<br /> <br /> <B>:: Pre- and Post-Operative Surgical Consultation:</B> Before surgery, our Heart Center patients have outpatient consultation with the Cardiothoracic Surgery team.<br /> <br /> <B>:: Preventive Cardiology/Lipid Disorders:</B> Patients with lipid disorders such as hypercholesterolemia/ hypertriglyceridemia are seen in consultation and receive follow-up care at our main campus cardiology clinic<br /> <br /> <B>:: Graduate Medical Education:</B> The Heart Center Outpatient Clinic is actively involved with all aspects of graduate medical education spanning from premedical student shadowing experience, medical student rotations, pediatric and adult/pediatric residency education and training of pediatric cardiology and adult/ pediatric cardiology fellows.30<br /> <br /> <B>special interests</B><br /> <br /> <B>Home Monitoring Program:</B> Established in 2008, The Heart Center’s Home Monitoring Program provides at home interstage monitoring for patients who have undergone surgical and/or interventional catheterization palliation for complex congenital heart disease. At-home monitoring of daily oxygen saturation and weight is typically performed between the initial palliation and the second stage of surgery for complex single ventricle patients.<br /> <br /> The Heart Center’s Cardiac Nurse Clinician team works in collaboration with attending cardiologists and primary care providers to closely follow patients at home in addition to their scheduled outpatient visits. The program continues to expand and include out-of-state monitoring.<br /> <br /> <B>Cardiac Rehabilitation Program:</B> Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation services are offered to pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients.Post-operative patients and complex patients with limited functional capacity have benefited from cardiac rehabilitation.
