While in the Long Island office, she prosecuted white collar crime and public corruption cases, and was the lead prosecutor in a series of trials involving allegations of public corruption in the Long Island town of Brookhaven. Ms. Lynch also served the district as Chief Assistant, where she was a member of the trial team in United States v. Volpe, et al., a five-week civil rights case involving the sexual assault by uniformed New York City police officers upon Haitian immigrant Abner Louima. Ms. Lynch was appointed by President William Jefferson Clinton as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, serving from 1999 to 2001. While U.S. Attorney Ms. Lynch was a member of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee, serving as Co-Chair of the White Collar Crime Subcommittee. She was a frequent instructor for the Department of Justice in their Criminal Trial Advocacy Program and served as an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University School of Law. Before returning to the office as United States Attorney in 2010, Ms. Lynch was a partner in the New York office of Hogan & Hartson, L.L.P. and was a member of the firm’s Litigation Group. Her practice focused on commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense, and corporate compliance issues. While at Hogan, Ms. Lynch also served as Special Counsel to the Prosecutor of the ICTR, and conducted a special investigation into allegations of witness tampering and false testimony at the Tribunal. Ms. Lynch received her A.B., cum laude, from Harvard College in 1981. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1984, where she was an advisor to the first year moot court competition and a member of the Legal Aid Bureau and Harvard Black Law Student Association. The FLEOA Foundation is a non-profit corporation founded in September 1993. The Foundation was created to financially assist federal law enforcement officers and their families in times of need. When federal law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty, the Foundation is there providing monetary assistance to the surviving family members. The Foundation also understands the financial strain a disability or terminal illness can have on families and is there to give them financial assistance. Over the years the Foundation has given out thousands of dollars to federal law enforcement officers and their families. The FLEOA Foundation also provides monetary assistance through its FLEOA members pose with Honoree United States Attorney Loretta E. The Foundation, like FLEOA, is there when you need it. However, to fulfill its mission it needs your support. The Foundation’s Annual Reception serves as the primary conduit for the Directors of the Foundation to raise funds enabling them to provide assistance to federal law enforcement officers and their families. But that is not enough. In September the CFC will hold its open season. The FLEOA Foundation is a recognized charity of the CFC ( The Foundation ‘s CFC number is 54726). If you have not already done so please, please consider donating to a charity that is there specifically for federal law enforcement officers and their families. Since its inception, the Foundation has provided financial assistance to 72 families of fallen law enforcement officers. Like FLEOA, the Foundation is a volunteer organization. Less than 6% of the money raised is used for administrative costs. You can be assured that the money raised, approximately 94%, is going to assist those in need. If you are in need of assistance or know a fellow federal law enforcement officer who is in need of assistance, the Foundation requests that you contact your local chapter president who in turn will notify the Foundation. Requests for assistance must be made in writing. By allowing the chapter president to be aware of your situation, he/she can notify the membership of your chapter of the circumstances regarding your request and they can make donations to the Foundation in your name. The donations, as well as the amount determined by the Foundation’s Board of Directors, will be sent to the chapter president to be presented to you. The Foundation will accept written requests directly if a member wishes the request to remain confidential.
